Who Will Speak Truth to Power? And When?

No less a luminary than Dr. Michael Eric Dyson last month asserted that the time to pressure Obama to cut the military budget would not come till after the election when, as he said “we have a seat at the table.” We think this is transparently wrong. Obama responded to our calling him out in 2003 because he was still in an election campaign, and needed every vote he could get. The day after the election, he could have ignored us with relative safety, just as Cheney and Bush ignore their approval ratings in the twenty and thirty percent range the last three years and more.

But in 2003 Obama was a mere mortal. Now corporate media have made him a rock star, Joshua, a prince on his way to a coronation. Those who raise questions about Obama's commitment to a progressive agenda will have to struggle to be heard. That's just the way it is. They may even have to be impolite at times. That's just the way it is too. Rock stars, royalty and the uncritical adulation they require make little room for polite criticism or democratic discussion.

Third party runs for the presidency have sometimes succeeded in exerting leftward pressure on Democratic presidential candidates. The best example is 1948, when Henry Wallace campaigned for president on the Progressive Party ticket with Paul Robeson at his side defying Jim Crow laws in dozens of states. It was this credible threat on the part of the Progressive Party to peel Black voters away from the Democratic party which led Truman to issue his election year executive order de-segregating the armed forces. This year, Cynthia McKinney and Ralph Nader have both declared their intention to explore presidential candidacies this year outside the Democratic party. Both have exemplary records of public service. Neither is a hater. Both are agitators in the best sense of that word. If Barack Obama, or for that matter Hillary Clinton is to be the Democratic presidential nominee, it's time they felt the heat to line up with Democratic voters, rather than with the DLC and the party's biggest donors.

I was at work last night when my good friend Apeil came by and we talked about the last week's events and what people are talking about. If you know April, you know that she is a very strong spoken African American woman and she holds nothing back. I told her about Myself getting blocked by a local blogger and she laughed so hard she about fell off the stool she was sitting upon! She told me that if anyone calls me names they have to deal with her. On another note we got talking ABOUT Obama and she had to say " we are really in trouble" and I asked why she says this and she tells me that if Obaama wins he won't really know what to do because he is so young and no exp. And if Hillary wins she will run the country on emotions but he husband will help her run the country like it should be run. I respect her opinion about things going on.

It's the last year for President Bush and ye we are going to be paying alot more for gas than ever before. Back in 1999 gas was $1.46 and the it took off when Bush came into office. Mot say its not because of Bush but I know better. I am going on record now to say that I think gas will be almost $4.00 by the end of the year. Bush is from Texas and we all know that Texas has oil. Bush is from Texas as well and his lobbist are in oil. If you think back we have more and more prescription ads on t.v. now more than ever. Everyone has something wrong with them either high blodd pressure, sleep roblems, or no insurance. Look to the republicans and blame them for high prices that we have to pay now and in the future. I have been watching the candidates on t.v and reading about them online. All I have seen and heard from Obama is CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE. But how is he going to change things? I have yet to hear how he is going to end the Iraq war, work on the economy, lower gas prices, end gang violence, and work on illegals. With just 3 yrs exp in government I dont see how he can run a country. I do know that when Bill Clinton ended office there was no debt to our country. Yes he was for the North Amercia trade agreement and yes he got oral sex from some bimbo but hey all politicans are crooked. Obama will just like the others so why is America not looking at exp first but listening to Obama? If he wins the nomination then I will not be voting this year becasue from day one I have had bad feelings about this man and in time if he wins the presidency and things don't work out then I will be one of those that will tell everyone " I told you so!" I have decided that if Hillary Clinton doesn't win the nomination then I will not be voting. I have had bad feelings about this Obama guy since he started running. I don't think that America is ready for black president (not saying I am racist) I just feel that if something in his presidency goes wrong then there will be a race war in our own country. People stop and think about what could happen to all of us. Also look at his exp. in Government. He does not have many years serving our country and he is still very young. It seems to me that every other week we have a holiday going on. Martin Luther King, Vaentines, St. Patrick's Day, and so on. These are just holidays so the retailers will get your money folks. Life still goes on while people take days off to celebrate these holidays and such. Everyone today seems to be blogging about Valentines day and while I was sleeping today I could care less about hearts and candy. Big freaking deal!! I received an email last week from a good friend of mine and others. Mrs Yvonne Moon had helped us with the Bowling for Brandon Brewer fundraiser this past summer and I when she emailed me last week I was upset to find out that something like this could happen to a person like Yvonne. Here is what she wrote to me.

"As most of you know, I had taken time off work for a couple of years in early 2006 and starting volunteering as a reporter for our local community newspaper. I worked on my high school reunion and was so glad we all got to see each other again.

One never know what to expect from life. I'm learning that more each day.

I've stopping writing for the paper. I loved doing it but it was unpaid and with everything from groceries to gas going up, we were needing more income. I've been working for Ingram Periodicals (magazine division) in Customer Service since December 10th, 2007. Our plans were to catch up some of the bills, get some household repairs and pay off our daughter's college loans.

Of course, life happens in a way you least expect. My husband Steve has been feeling poorly for several months now. and actually has been off and on sick with flu-like/pneumonia symptoms since mid-November. He would stay off work a week, go back to work, get sick again, get a little better, go back to work and then get fatigued again.

At one of his doctor visits in late January, the doctor detected a mass in his lung. He's been a smoker for almost 40 years (despite my years of pleading for otherwise) --- I'd always been fearful since both of his parents died in 2000 of cancer - his mother 4 months after diagnosis, his Dad one month after diagnosis.

We went to a lung specialist on Tuesday of this week. The doctor confirmed based on the findings of the CT scan that there are actually 4 tumors. He told us to expect 2 - 3 years with treatment, perhaps as much as a year without any treatment. My husband is 55 years old.

Needless to say, we are grief-stricken at the news. I think I've cried a million tears.

The first few days we were in shock. Now, we've moved on to more of a "fight" mode. We are thinking positive, praying and hoping for the best. He's quit smoking (yes, a little too late), we are feeding him the best nutrition possible, and using herbs to try to shrink the tumors. The doctor said since he is so weak (130 lbs) he didn't think chemo and radiation were an option right now and the location of the largest tumor (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm) in the chest cavity would be too risky for surgery.

Our 21 year old daughter had already begun planning a wedding for August 2008 in Memphis. She is marrying a young man who attends Memphis School of Preaching. Tuesday was a rough day for her --- mid-day she got the news about my husband. Her fiance went up to Freed Hardeman in Jackson.TN that afternoon to be with her. The tornadoes in the area forced all the students into the basement for several hours. Unfortunately, nearby Union University suffered a massive loss of property, but thankfully no one was critically injured.

Please keep us in your prayers. Unsure of where life will take us next, we are going ahead with the wedding plans and taking one day at a time. Please ask family and friends and those at your church to keep us covered in prayer. I will add you to the email list for periodic updates to keep you informed. We need encouragement as we "take one day at a time" --- cards and letters would certainly be appreciated. Please know that I welcome and enjoy emails but may not have time to respond between working full time and caring for my husband while trying to be there for our daughter as she prepares for her upcoming wedding..

I am so sick and tired of my neighbors acting like this is the ghetto. They have cars coming and going throughout the day and night and the owner of this home isnt hardly ever there. The cops have been called on these people so many times and one time last month the swat team was even over there. I know there are codes in this city that doesnt allow all these cars to park in the yard. I know for a fact that there are 12 people living in a 3 bedroom and sometimes there is even more living there. The one 21 yr old girl that lives there is handicapped and she and her aunt sleep in the garage at times since there is so many people over there. They also have dogs in the back yard which do get out at times and we have called the shelter on them and they seem to do nothing! I want to put this call out there for ou city officals to see if there is anything e can do to get these people out of here. Our home values are going down because of this happening in the neighborhood. Please help us!!!

Now they say that they are using this money to invest in making better gas and alternative energy usage. Bullshit!! Someone is making alot of good money off of us and this has to stop! The government needs to stop this and make these companies that are raping us lower the prices. I know this wont happen but needs to! We as a country need to cut back on our driving to show these big companies that we can do without all this driving around!

update: on Dec 27th back in 1999 gas was $1.46 a gallon and then in may of 2005 it hit $2.02 a gallon. and today it's up towards $3.00 a gallon. I would think Americans need to take this into account and vote for what's right and best for our country!!

I thought the wonderful Lady was much older than she really is with the name like Aunt B.plus I thought she was Brittney G.'s aunt(yes I know this will be a good laugh for all) and also found out the area of Nashville she lives at. I am sick and tired of government trying to run our lives. They have went up on taxes for cigerettes and then they decide to pass a law that tells us we can pay more for smoking but cant smoke anywhere except our homes or cars oor outside. I know from seeing the health dept come into work that every business has to have no smoking signs place on their front doors. Well people our wonderful government is now trying to make it where the churches don't have to post these signs. Are they special? They already don't have to pay taxes. Church goes do smoke too so this bill is really a waste of time.

NASHVILLE -- Lawmakers are considering a proposal to exempt churches from a state law that requires "No Smoking" signs be posted at their entrances.

The state's indoor smoking ban went into effect in October. The ban applies to most indoor businesses and public places and requires that the international "No Smoking" symbol be posted at all entrances.

OK i was at work last night thinking that the GLBT community definitely needs to have their own day of recognition. If we can celebrate MLK Day then why not celebrate Stonewall and have all the schools, banks, Wall street and anything else close up? We, GLBT, need to take a stand and try to get more done for us as we are shunned as a group of people. We get treated much worse than any group of folks but then we still pay our taxes and are a common people among others!

Law enforcement raids on gay bars and discotheques were a regular part of gay life in cities across the United States, until the 1960s, when sudden raids on bars in many major cities became markedly less frequent. Most conclude that the decline in raids can be attributed to a series of court challenges and increased resistance from the Homophile Movement.

Prior to 1965, the police would sometimes record the identities of all those present at a raid, occasionally providing the information to newspapers for publication. Police used any convenient justification to make arrests on charges of indecency including kissing, holding hands, cross dressing - even merely being in the bar at the time of the raid.

In 1965, two important figures came into prominence. The first was John Lindsay, a liberal Republican who was elected mayor of New York City on a reform platform. The other was Richard Leitsch, who became president of the New York City chapter of the Mattachine Society at around the same time. Leitsch was considered relatively militant compared to his predecessors and believed in direct action techniques commonly used by other civil rights groups in the 1960s.

This event that tool place back in the 1960's did help some for the GLBT people but it's just not enough. It's 2008 and GLBT community is growing bigger and stronger and more and more people either have a family member or know someone that is Gay, Lesbian, bi-sexual, or transgender. If we had our own day to celebrate other than the regular pride parades which doesn't get much attention , then I feel that more and more people would stand beside us and hold our hand towards better freedoms than we have now! I have been watching some of the presidential campaigning and man do i see the stupidity that these people are trying to use on us. For one I myself will be voting for the one I see fit to run and win , not the one that a certain person say we all need to vote for. I know that Oprah is a major t.v. star but come on folks. If Oprah told you to jump off a bridge would you do it. It seems to me that this country has really gone to the fucking dogs. We have our young people looking up to those that really haven't made a difference in this country. Ste back and look at our young people today. I see them everyday in my life and they don't dress the correct way with their pants hanging down to their knees, they don't use the English language like it is suppose to be used. I am so sick of people not being themselves and following those that everyone thinks is god!! People just be yourselves and stop looking up to those that really in the long run don't give a shit about you and what really happens to you. Oprah acts like she cares about all of her viewers but really she doesn't care about shit unless it has to do with money!!!

Now for the other topic which has to do with the first topic Oprah has endorsed Obama and now it looks like they are trying to use to the race card against the Clinton's. I knew this was going to happen and The Clinton's have not said anything wrong. People like I said up top be your own person and don't let others tell you what to do. I have decided that this year I am going to tell it like it is and not let things bother me or bottle things up. I will be giving my thoughts as I feel and don't care if I come across a asshole or not. I have lived my life as I feel that I haveand now it's time to speak for myself and if I hurt anyone's feelings then I am sorry but I am not going to hold things inside of me anymore because it's making me a very bitter person. I know some will thing I am racist but I am really not. Some might get so mad at me that they want to hurt me but I don't care. I am tired like I said of holding things inside. Each week I will let loose with a few things I have bottled up inside of me and this week here it goes......

I have enjoyed the web and the websites I go to daily but I have observed the last few months that certain blogs online have become so fucked up that it seems to me that its running peoples lives. It also seems to me that that's all they do is stay online all day and read blogs. I know there are a few that blog for a living which is cool with me but some others just have made it so apparent that they can not live a day without being online in the blogs. I also feel people have right to read and comment on anything they need to. I know several friends of mine that work on blogs or have blogs but they don't take it so serious that its all they have in life. Kathy T., Chip, Ivy, Gunner are all people I look up to but others seem to take blog life to the extreme and think its a popularity contest to see who can have the most posting one day or the most hits. Come on people its just blogs!!! I know this will piss some folks off but hey I am not here to win your fucking love for I don't read your blogs that much anyway.

Also since I am telling it like it is I want to say this....

I am very pissed off by the way most of the bloggers in the great city have acting towards giving to those that needed our help. Some of the bloggers stepped up to help and that was wonderful. I am talking about when we asked for help for the Christmas for the Children and the Bowling for Brandron brewer fundraisers. You people were more concerned about your fucking blogs and politics then helping some child that really needs the helps. This really upsets me that bloggers in our community didn't help as much as we had hope. Don't just think its me that feels this way either, others do but they are too scared to say anything about this because they are scared they might loose a friend or two.

I got ail today and it was my new laptop and I am so excited. I am still working on how it works. I know I am getting a wireless router tomorrow and I will be able to sit outside and smoke a cig while being online. I can also meet those crazy bloggers I call friends at Expresso Joe's or Bob Parks!! I am really excited about this new toy of mine. It's a Dell Inspiron 1520 with dual core processor and its really fast compared to my old desktop that was a celeron.

On another note I wish my dear friend Kathy T. is feeling better and to everyone I want to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!....

I want you to know that you are nothing more than piles of shit. You need to go back to the ghetto of downtown Nashville and stay the hell out of La Vergne Tn. Your yard is starting to look like a junk yard with all the cars and trucks parked in the yard. The backyard is full of dogs that you have decided to leave this weekend without food and water and they have gotten out to run the neighborhood and scare people since they are dogs that are known to hurt people. I.E. pitbulls and german sheppards. I also think tht 12 to 15 people living in a 3 bedroom home is not very safe or sanitary. Everyone in the neighbothood wants you to sell your home and get the fuck out of the area. You are bringing down our property values as well as turning the area into a ghetto looking place to live!! Go sell your drugs somewhere else because we don't want that shit here anymore!!!

sidenote: I know for one that they won't ever see this for the don't have internet and for those that think I am saying this to be racist I am not I am tired of looking like the projects next door to my nice home!!!

"Our government" Trying to be Communist??

Communism is a theoretical and practical concept that promotes establishment of a classless, stateless society based on common ownership of the means of production. It is usually considered a branch of the broader socialist movement that draws on the various political and intellectual movements that trace their origins back to the work of Karl Marx. Opponents say that communism is an ideology, whereas promoters say that it is the only political system without ideology because it represents the destiny of human kind, in the sense that if you consider that the desire to be free is not an ideology, then communism shows what is scientifically supposed to happen considering History in a scientific way.

With that said, I am going to say this!! Our government is really trying to control our lives by placing bans on smoking in public places and now a new ban that my friend Gunner has wrote about today in The Smyrna A.M. He tells us that Senator Tom Harkin from Iowa is trying to place a ban on junk food in schools and he agrees that this should be done. I on the other hand disagree with him. I feel that today's children wouldn't need to watch what they ate if they weren't sitting watching t.v. or on the computer. Today's children really have life so easy compared to when I was growing up back in the early 1980's. We didn't have Xbox's, Ipods or even computers then to get us from getting out and exercising. I remember my father would come home from work and he would make us run laps around the back yard which was an acre of land and I hated him for that but now I understand why he made us do that. I see alot of children out there in this cruel world that are overweight but is that our schools fault? No it's the parents fault for letting their children sit online, sit and watch t.v. and play video games. We as adults need to take our children and show them the right way to eat and teach them that exercise is always great for the body. I for one am overweight and work my ass off but still don't loose the weight I should because of my diet. My sleep habits are really bad as well but it's because of my job and I do exercise some while at work by moving around and staying active. I probably could loose alot more weight if I stayed off the Coca Cola and drank water but I don't like water so it's my fault that I am the way I am. Junk food is OK in moderation but if parents let their children eat and not exercise then its not good for you period!!!

Are we headed to a communism government or just a bullying government? You decide but we need to teach our children better because they are our future!!

Well gang I finally made the choice to buy a laptop. I went to Dell.com and applied for credit and I was sitting here waiting for an answer when I yelled with glee....I was approved. I am so shocked that I got credit with Dell. So I went looking for a new laptop and found one to my liking. They say it will be here on Jan 10th or so and I am so excited. Now I have a question for you computer geeks out there. We have another computer here along with mine hooked up to a cable modem and I have a wireless card coming with my laptop. Now i wonder how I can hook up to wireless when I buy a router and still keep the other computer on cable? Does anyone know if I can do this and have the wireless hooked through the cable modem? Or do I have to have Comcast come to and hook up everything for me and charge me more per month. Help me out gang I am new to wireless and need help. I will proudly be sitting at the coffee shop, once I have my new laptop!!

I have been so busy working 7 days a week lately that I haven't had much time to talk with any of my dear and true friends. I know they understand that I am working alot but I feel that I need to make more time to actual call them and tell them I do care for them. When you reach a certain age in life, your friends tend to change and you have less friends because you are now more selective. I have only a hand full of friends that I talk with and those people mean the world to me. Blogging for one, has created a few good friends and those people have made me, through talking with them, grow up so much, that I really apperciate them more than anything. Don't let life pass you by without getting to know those great people that are out there waiting to be your friends! I have one friend that is a sweet person and we don't always see eye to eye on life's issues but we do get along. Another true friend of mine makes me laugh everytime I talk with her and she inspires me to try to write better online through her work!!
Yet another good friend of mine, Yvonne Moon, has stepped up to the plate in times of need to help those that needed it the most. A friend of mine that I am getting just getting to know is a guy that is has a heart and is everyone's friend. Now I ask everyone to take a few minutes out of your busy day and call a friend that means something to you and let them know you are thinking about them. This is one way to show your love and let others know that friends are to cherish....

Ok folks our state government has passed this law about smoking in public places and I know from my view that it has hurt the business i work at. The bowling center on 3rd shift used to do a great business with folks bowling and drinking plus able to smoke while they do so and now we are so slow that we might as well close down on 3rd shift. Also I have read in the Cookeville Tn newspaper that one of the resturants there has closed its dorrs and this chain of resturants might be hurting in other cities too. I think the gov. needs to back off small business and let us do as we wish. Toot's in Cookeville has closed its doors now because they have lost 20 percent of their business and alot of folks are now without a job thanks to our elected officials. go read more about toos closing their doors and I hope they dont close here

We all know that all churches are tax exempt and I am starting to feel that maybe they shouldnt be. There are alot of mega church's out there making millions of dollars and they don't have to pay a dime to uncle sam. I have found that one church has made over$69 million last year just off the television. This is wrong!!! The government knows that they will get the vote from churchs since they are tax exempt.

Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, the top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, launched his investigation this week after he received tips about preachers who ride in Rolls Royces and have purportedly paid $30,000 for a conference table.

Grassley sent letters to the half-dozen Christian media ministries earlier this week requesting answers by Dec. 6 about their expenses, executive compensation and amenities, including use of fancy cars and private jets.

Well folks the time has arrived that I amm now on vacation. WOOT WOOT!! I am now off for 10 wonderful days from the bowling center and fixing to head right out of town to Dunedin Florida. I am so excited about this trip. I have talk with my brother already and he tells me that he has alot of things planned for me to do while there. On thursday next week we will be heading to Live Oak Florida for the MagnoliaFest. I myself have never been to something like this that last for 4 days. It will be something very different than I am used to. I am told there is a chance that I might be sleeping in a tent outdoors. Oh my god!! Me in a tent. lol! No running water, no radio, and no COMPUTER. wILL i MAKE IT? I want everyone to think of me while those 4 days are going on. No computer to cause drama with is something I wont be able to handle. I was also told the people at this fest are like modern day hippies. Lots of love there. hmmmmm. I am also going to be turning 41 on Monday which is kind of cool that I am celebrating my birthday out of town which is something I have never done before. Something else that I have never done before is take a vacation out of town for this long! Will I make it? Let's hope so. Well to all of my readers which will be about 15 of them I want to say goodbye for the week and I might be able to post some but not alot so stay tuned to see if I post any pics while down there.

lESS THAN 48 HOURS

I have less than 48 jours and I get to fly to Dunedin Florida for 10 days. I have worked 3 and a half years without missing a day or a vacation and I am really looking forward to taking a long awaited vacation. I am going down to see my older brother and his wife. I will be working Friday night then coming home at 8:30am and I will have to be at the airport at 10:30am to fly out at noon. I am so excited about taking this vacation I can't wait! We are also going to a music festival on Thursday thru Sunday and I get to work about 4 hours each day during this and can't wait to listen to some great music. I have not been very close to my older brother but it's time in my life that i do get to know him and all his friends. The Dunedin area is so nice that I could live there. I will be looking around while down there and if I see something I like as in a job I just might take it. My only fear is that I hope there is not any hurrincaes while I am there. I will be taking alot of pics and I hope to make a few post while I am there so stay tuned to the Drama Llama to see what all I am getting into for this next week I will be also turning 41 yrs old. Talk with all of you when I get back!!

Overseas jobs not doing well!

Well lately there has been news about all the toys in China being recalled and I knew something like this would end up happening when our Government started letting companies move overseas. These big companies think they could save money by sending our jobs all overseas but it just bit them in the ass! Now is it really safe to buy anything made in China?

On another note a few years back I heard that when you go to Mcd's and place your order through the drive-thru that you might be talking to someone in India. Alot of businesses have sent their call centers over to this country and when someone calls me on the phone and I cant understand them it bothers me. We have so many people here living off the government that these jobs would be perfect for those people to get on their feet and make a living. I have just read online something about the people of India stating that they don't want anymore call centers in their country. That makes me so happy now. it seems that most over in India are upset because the westerners treat them so bad on the phones but when you cant understand a word they are saying it upsets many of us here in the United States. I am all for someone having a job and making a living but when will the big companies realize that they need to help support those in this country first? Out sourcing of Jobs is not the answer to saving money in this country. What is the answer is some of the companies have unions that petty much eat up at the profits of companies, Like G.M. Their employees make about $65.00 an hour which includes benefits and they dont work as hard as the average person. Now Nissan isnt unionized and those people make a good living still and work hard for the money plus are actually very nice people to know. That company treats their employees nice with vacations, days off, and employee functions. The better you treat your people the harder they will work.

Added Thakur's friend, Vishal Lathwal, 19, "If you work at a call center today people will think you don't have anything else to do or were a bad student."

In addition to having to work at night, call center workers must sometimes cope with abusive and racist remarks from overseas customers upset with jobs being shifted to India. In an infamous example two years ago, a Philadelphia-based radio show host pretending to order hair beads from an Indian call center operator berated her as a "dirty rat eater." While the abuse was for an on-air program, Indian call center workers say they've encountered similar sentiments from real customers. Within six months to a year, their dreams of making "lots of money" and buying motorcycles and other consumer goods fade, says Vinod Shetty, a labor lawyer in Mumbai and advocate for call center operators. "The burnout is very high." The Indian government is concerned about stress-related conditions like high blood pressure at call centers and other outsourcing companies and is working on a health policy for the industry.

Two other people in my life have dedicated nearly every waking moment this month to helping a local family in crisis. Mark Gunn of the Smyrna Bowling Center and Murfreesboro resident Yvonne Moon were very much affected when they heard about the plight of La Vergne resident Brandon Brewer. Brandon is well known in the county as a very sick child. At birth, the doctors diagnosed him with Hirschsprung's disease, an illness that prevents his body from absorbing nutrients. His family pays $10,000 every month for medicine, prescriptions that are not covered by insurance — an amount that doesn't even touch other massive medical expenses.

I was having lunch the other day at the local Sonic and noticed a young man going in from his break and noticed that his pants were hanging down to his knees. Now my question is this. He will ending up pulling his pants up during his shift and does he wash his hands everytime afterwards? If he does then great but most likely he is too busy cooking someone's food to stop and wash everytime he reaches back to pull up his baggy pants which is touching his underwear or boxers. I dont want someone touching their boxers while pulling up their pants then fixing my burger. How gross is that. Is this something I should contact the heath dept about? How many places let their employees have baggy pants? How many nasty hands have fixed my lunch/dinner?

I went last night to the 3rd annual National Learning Congress awards gala and it was a great evening with the best music I have heard in a long time from the band Soul Incision. This band is a group of doctors and such at Vandy and by night they play some of the best music around. They had the Opryland Delta Ballroom hopping. If they ever play somewhere and you have the chance to see them please do . Here is a clip of the band a few months ago and enjoy them for I did. Discrimination at work

I am going to post something that will hopefully get people to wise up and take a stand. Are you one of many that goes into work everyday and bust his or her ass for a company and in turn finds out that someone makes fun of you and calls you names behind your back to fellow coworkers? When you say something to the bosses the say they will take care of the problem but don't. I know of someone that has worked so hard at doing a great job and has been praised for his hard work and in turn after a period of time their hours have been cut so much they can't make a living and this is all because of someone that has told the higher ups that he should take this person's place which it's known that this person isn't able to do the job but this person doesn't like faggots!! This is 100% wrong in my book and it will be addressed at the right time and place! Harassment on the job should never be allowed to happen and if certain folks don't take a stand then it will continue to happen!
Please go and read more about what can be done to fight this kind of discrimination!! Well in my 41 years on this planet I have seen the discrimination and it just pisses me off to this happening at this day and age! Many people just keep quite about this and do their job but it's time we stand up and fight this for many employers need to know that shouldn't happen and we aren't going to stand for this. I have received an email today about this same problem and I am going to work and help fight this for I have been know to be a victim myself. here is a part of the email and we will talk more in a minute about what needs to be done.

This morning, a letter signed by more than 90 national and state advocacy organizations that work on behalf of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people was delivered to Congress, asking for more time to garner support for ENDA as it was originally introduced. Some 2,500 congregations were asked to activate their memberships to call Congress. Students are also calling and e-mailing Congress and launching Facebook accounts to build support, working from 120 LGBT campus resource centers. Action alerts, blog postings and opinion pieces supporting a trans-inclusive ENDA have been flying over the Internet.

We at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force are immensely proud to be part of this moment. Our staff mounts a full-court press in the halls of Congress, on the telephones and over e-mail, to convince our congressional leaders that separating transgender people from the rest of us is unacceptable and unsupportable.

Why have we all worked so hard together and in such a dramatic way over this issue? For over a decade, the Task Force, and increasingly our organizational colleagues, has re-embraced transgender friends, family and colleagues as part of our community and part of our movement for freedom and equality. We believe the social disapproval and punishment of LGBT people varies only by degree. Yes, we can be fired if we identify ourselves as lesbian, gay or bisexual. But it isn't always about who we love; sometimes it’s about a refusal or inability to disguise ourselves — “pass” — as heterosexual.

The freedom to express ourselves and be ourselves is at stake when any one of us is punished and persecuted for stepping outside the rigid rules of gender conformity. Lesbians, gay men and bisexual people historically engage a whole range of dress and behaviors that challenge the traditional gender code. Women who are too masculine and men who are too feminine often suffer job discrimination and harassment at work, just as our transgender sisters and brothers do.

This also includes those that are transgender people and if someone is doing their job and a good one at that then why should people discriminate against those. Maybe alittle jealousy? We as a community need to stand up and fight those businesses that are letting this happen.

I would hope that everyone will contact your senator and let them know your not going to stand for this kind of work harrassment and we all need to do something about this now!

Here we go again people with yet another school shooting happening. This has to stop for our kids are there to learn not kill. There is alot we can do to stop all of this madness. The N.R.A. needs to help stop this and stop trying to let guns be sold to everyone. The parents that these kids belong to need to be held accountable for the actions of these kids. If the parents were around the kids then this craziness might not happen. Also the music these kids listen to isnt the best. Rap isnt the best music around.

I also found that most think that the life at home does have alot to do with these kids acting out like they do. Here is something I found online and will add more to this post as I find it.

Parents love to blame musicians like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre to
bands like KoRn and Limp Bizkit for their child's problems. Music is
an excuse for bad parenting. "One should look at the family background
of the person committing the crimes" (Foster 3). Most criminals come
from dysfunctional families, which would explain why a person would
turn to crime in life. Another reason a person would turn to crime is
being sexually abused as a young child. This would definitely cause a
person to go a little crazy. When someone hears some lyrics from
Eminem, they do not go out and do what he says. Lyrics from Eminem and
other similar lyrics are for entertainment only. If people did
whatever they heard, then everybody would be evil and corrupted I hear
far worse words and phrases during school than on a rap album, and the
words do not effect me or anybody else otherwise everybody in school
would run around shooting people and doing drugs.

Now we as parents need to stand up, talk with our kids and explain to them that they can talk to us anytime they need to. Don't put your kids on the back burners.

I noticed last week that 2 young men in the area here were stopped by police again, this being a regular thing because their parents work all the time and let them be free and run the streets all the time and they dont give a shit about what they do. One of these kids stole a handgun last summer so now I fear for the kids in the area!! call me a rasict because I dont care but parents need to watch watch their kids watch, listen to and surf. Grow up some of you and take care of your kids! Teach them wrong from right!!

I have thought for quite some time on what to write about and here it is today. This might piss some people off but hey I am always one to do so. I have worked so hard on this fundraiser for Brandon Brewer and when the night of the event came around, I knew right then who really cared and who was my true friend. We had worked so hard to get media coverage for this and it was all over the web and only those that showed up or donated are true people in my book. I figured that at least some of the blogging community would step up but hey its a click type of world out there and i should have known better to even think that they would step up and help out this very sick child. Heaven forbid that they ever need anything from me. This really makes me think about what kind of people there are in this world. I think if everyone that blogs would have donated at least $10.00 we would have made alot more money to help this young man out. I know things do come up in one's life so there is always time to donate to a great cause. Email me or comment if you still want to donate.

Sen. Craig is living a lie...

Now most of you know I am not into politics but this really makes me mad and I want to express my feelings about this issue.

If this Senator is doing things like this and is married then he is living a lie and is putting his family in a situation that they need not be! How can someone be so shallow and vote against gays and then turn around and try to get sex from someone in a bathroom stall. I call this stupid!! Gays already have enough to worry about with the general public calling them names and now this guy is saying he isn't gay. I call this man a closet case. There are many guys that are living lies and trying to be the perfect family man. Has society created the people to be so scared to be who they are? If you are gay then you are gay. You are born this way and if someone doesn't accept the way they are then they go into denial and then they marry and have kids and then do things like this. I see alot of personal ads on sites saying married men looking for man to man sex. Guys if you are gay then why sneak behind your wife's backs and do this? The women don't want to be married to a gay guy so grow the hell up and accept your lifestyle for who you are!!

Now for this Senator's wife. I feel so sorry for you being married to someone that can't accept his life as who he is.

For those in politics...If you can't do what the people have voted you to do then don't run for office. Someone that votes against measures then goes and does the same thing should not serve in office!!!

OK everyone, I want to take a few minutes to be serious about something that I think we will help this country. I am thinking about my vote for the election in 2008 and already know who I am voting for. I feel this country now needs to change and would be so much better off with a woman running it. We had a great few years with Mr. Clinton in office and I feel things will get so much better with Mrs. Clinton back running things with the help of her old man! Women seem to have something about them that calms people plus they know how to handle a budget better than any male. I hope to be writing more in the coming months about this subject and getting comments from you about who you are going to vote for. I have only voted once in my life and that was 2 years ago with some blogger buddies of mine, Kathy T. and Bad Bad Ivy. We had so much fun then voting and hope we can do it again next year!!

I just got a phone call from Mealand Ragland from the D.N.J and she just told me that my idea about having a few homes set up in Lake Forrest Estate as police centers is going to take effect soon. She stated that our police cheif loved the idea and is going to use this to help curbe the crime over there in the largest subdivison in the state. Maybe this will be the new way, we as citizens fight crime. I think we should do this...

Have the local folks get invovled and help with the new crime centers. LET THEM BE STAFFED 24 hours a day with local people and police. You can be able to come into the center with info about crime going on and if you help gets someone arrested and thrown in jail then you get a reward, just like crime stoppers. This is going to help I believe with crime over there, as long as citizens get involved with these centers. Also lets have the police cheif hold meetins with everone at least once a month around 7pm and he can tell us what we need to do to help. We can do as much as we can and the city is going to help us so Lavergne lets get out and make this a place to live, work shop and raise our children!!!!

Hello all and I wanted to let everyone know about my trip to see my brother and his wife. This trip was not a vacation but a trip where it was requested that we come down to see my brothers wife. She has cancer of the breast which has spread to her liver her one eye and now we found out to her spine. This woman is remarkable. She has had cancer of the breast for 22 yrs and man she has survived this long and I feel she is a fighter. We left here on Friday morning after I got off work and had to pick up my father in Cookeville and head to Dunedin Florida which is west of Tampa. It was a very long drive but we made it in 12.5 hours and when we got there I was so glad to see my older brother. I haven't been close to him because I didn't know I had an older brother until about 1990 and since we live so far apart its hard to visit him. He and I seem to have clicked so well and we get along like you wouldn't believe. He has accepted me as me and we love each other for who we are.

Now when we got there they took us to this alittle cafe in downtown Dunedin and man it was cute. The name of this little place is called Café Alfresco . I really enjoyed the food there. After dinner we walked a few blocks which the time was around 10:00 pm and I couldn't believe the people that were out riding bikes and walking around. This little town is something like you would see off t.v. The people there treated us with so much courtesy and welcomed us and told us if there was anything they could do for us to let them know. I felt like I was part of this little town. The next day we went to a place for breakfast in the same area and man the food was great. This place called Kelly's treated us great with a wonderful breakfast and the portions were large. They also have a cocktail lounge called Chic-a-boom room. It is something like you would see in New York City! They also have a nightclub next to that called Blur which I didn't have time to go into and visit. The shops around the downtown area were cute and nicely priced. If ever in the area please stop by and say hi to these people and they will treat you great!!!

Now more about the trip with my brother. I was really happy to see him and know what he is going through and wish I could be there full-time with him to help for we are the only family he has for his own mother doesn't even talk to him and My brother doesn't even know where she lives at. This breaks my heart for him. I am going to go back for about 10 days in Oct to help him with things and make sure he is doing OK since his wife doesn't have about one year to live which might even be shorter than that. only the lord knows when its time for her to go. I am really thinking about maybe moving down there to be with him but will have to take my time to decide if that is right for me. If you ask me right now I would say yes I am going to move there but I do need to make sure its the right choice for me.

Everything went well except for my father showing his ass this weekend and my brother and wife saw this and even said something to me about this. My brother told me he noticed that my dad is more worried about my dad's wife than anything . My father is such a self centered ass and He would know what true love was if it hit him in the face. You would really have to know my father to understand what he is about. We had plans for a cookout with my brothers boss on Sunday but my father just had to get back to his car lot today so we had to cut our plans short and head back Sunday afternoon. We got to Macon Ga. and spent the night there and got up at 4am and I dove us through Atlanta and all the back to Cookeviile Tn which driving through Hotlanta is nothing I would recommend to anyone. Talk about stress these people think they are Nascar drivers...lol. well enough for now and I will port pictures soon so everyone can see my brother and his wife. thanks for reading today!!

Ok people I am going to need everyone's help now. KATHY T. and myself are holding a fundraiser for the lavergne teen that is sick (Brandon Brewer). We are going to have a special night called "Bowling for Brandon" at the Smyrna bowling center on Friday Sept. 28th at midnight till 6am. The cost of the tickets will be $20.00 with half of the proceeds going to Brandon to help with all the cost!Our center has agreed to let us hold this event on a busy night and with 52 lanes to bowl on I want to pack the house with supporters. I did talk with Brande Brewer today and she told me that Brandon loves to bowl and he will be there. I am going to have a lane set up for him with balloons and all and I am hoping that we get enough things donated to have a silent auction. Plus there will be donation buckets set up so you can donate for a great cause! Mealand from the D.N.J is going to help with the media part of this plus fox 17 is doing an in depth interview with Brande and I know channel four will do something as well. Coming up on Sept. 28th , a Friday night, we will be holding a fundraiser for Brandon Brewer and hope that everyone will attend this fun filled evening. This teenage boy needs everyone to show him some support and help him and his family with all those crazy bills that come along with being sick. On this special night we will be selling tickets for $20.00 each and this will include opening bowling from 12am till 6am. The other day I spoke my opinion and someone called me a name. well this person doesn't know me and has no idea what I am thinking. I did write something about this person but deleted because i don't want to step down to that level. If someone makes a statement about how they feel then others should just them say what they feel! I am not and don't have time to argue back and forth with this person online for I do have a life to live and a job that calls for me to be there! If i offended this person then I am sorry but they should not go jumping to conclusions about someone and posting about it. We as a people should be able to speak as we wish because now adays the government is taking alot away from us anyways but they cant take our free speech away or can they? All I can say is everyone be carefull on what you say because some take it way way out of text!!!

how to tell if drugs are near your home....

I want everyone to know this and hope this helps with crime in your area. If you are driving around and see shoes hanging from power lines then that means there is more than likely drugs or gangs presence in that area. I was driving to get some lunch today and seen such a site at a house of someone I know and it has been told to me in an earlier time that this woman's son is a known drug dealer. Also this house is right across the street from where some school busses park. Will our police take notice and do something about this? Our neighborhood is a nice one at that and we dont want drug dealers near here.....

I have been very busy with work ya'll and havent had much time to post lately but yesterday in the Smyrna A.M. there was an article about the bowlin center I work at and it seems that the owner has some good things to say about the shift I am running.....

We actually have nights where we have five or six people on staff.

The overnight business has increased by 110 percent this year.

I just read that the Lavergne national night out has been cancelled and I bet I know why many folks dont want to help out....Is it because the one person that works for the city is such a snob that she has made alot of folks mad with her and at her. She knows who she is and if she would be alittle more friendlier then she might get more respect from the people that live here. She represents the city of Lavergne but sometimes acts like a total "BOOB". I say to her " treat people like you want to be treated and you might see a diffence in people wanting to help out"

On another note some people that work for the city need to make sure that they treat the workers that are under them with respect and not be so vindictive towards them. My mother comes home alot now crying about how they treat her...enough said for now

When I die this is how I want my funeral...

Even though I am only 40 yrs old I have thought about how I want my funeral when I die. I probably wont have many people there when I die since I am single and wont ever marry but My newphew will hopefully get to do my funeral plans and I know he can do the right thing by obeying my last wish about my funeral. When I die I want people to celebrate my life and not sit around and weep. I right now have lived a good and crazy life and when I do die I want those close to me to understand that I am now much happier resting in a better place. I hope that when I do die that it is fast and without pain.
My plans are that I want a big party with lots of food and drink. I would also like a few disco lights with lots of music played and the music will be some of the greatest music around and I will post some of the videos and lyrics of my favorite songs that I do want played.
I know this may come to a shock to most of you about me planning my funeral now but hey I could be run over by a semi tomorrow...lol...lets hope not!! here is a few of my most favorite songs...I hope you enjoy!!
