The Breakfast Club!

Ok everyone I just watch a video of the movie The Breakfast Club. This movie is one of the all time best movies and it shows how different people can get along even in the worst of times. I remember growing up being gay and it was hard on me. You had the popular kids in school that wouldnt give you the time of day or even a hello. And then you had the ruffnecks which wouldnt be caught dead around you. Then came the nerds, well I fit into that group because no other group would talk to me.

What I am trying to say is that everyone needs to get to know someone before they pass judgement on someone for who they are. Friends come and go but good friends are those that dont care what or who you are they like you for you. Dont look down on someone either. Try to teach the younger kids not to judge someone for who they are and to be themselfs. Life is too short for all this drama.

Plan calls for nature park, rec parks, retrofit of Town Centre

SMYRNA — The Parks Department has done a good job of providing the essentials, but should add more programing, a consultant said.
Doug Tennant, a planner with Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon, the firm hired to draft the parks department's second master plan, said Smyrna has been successful in completing 80 percent of the plan it launched in 1995. The town has the "meat and potatoes" part, meaning playing fields, down to a science, he said.

"That usually happens with most systems. The leagues grow, then programs need to be developed," Tennant said during a parks planning meeting this week.
He said the programming sector is important as it can help the town embrace people of all backgrounds and ethnicities.
"A diversity of programs means a diversity of participants," he added.
Once drafted, the master plan will guide the direction of Smyrna's parks system until 2016.
More than 4,200 people take part in Smyrna's youth soccer, basketball, baseball, football and softball leagues and an adult softball league. With upwards of 1,200 members, North Rutherford Soccer is the largest league.
When it comes to providing facilities, the department looks at the town's population, when it really should consider a marketplace, said Tennant.
"You're building facilities for people that don't pay taxes here. That's a hard thing to do," he said.
Parks Director Mike Moss said about 35 percent of league participants live outside the city. About 750,000 people visit Smyrna's parks each year.
Because Smyrna is growing geographically, resident Gary Richmond doesn't want the master plan to cause the town to overbuild any recreational facilities. But he said a second large park like Lee Victory Recreation Park on Sam Ridley Parkway is needed.
"Victory Park is good, but it gets saturated quickly," said Richmond.
Lee Victory Recreation Park is home to the adult softball, youth football and junior baseball leagues. Close to 1,600 people participate in those leagues.
Tennant presented a plan that divides Smyrna into three large zones to service the northern, central and southern areas of town. The plan drafted in 1995 split the town into eight zones.
He recommended a nature-based community park in the north zone, which goes out West Jefferson Pike and onto State Route 840. Because Smyrna's town limits end at West Jefferson Pike and Stones River, that area is designated as an urban growth boundary. Two smaller community parks and a multipurpose recreation park, all to be located near Almaville Road, were recommended for the southern zone.
In the heart of Smyrna, Tennant said, the Town Centre could be renovated to serve as a community center, similar to Murfreesboro's Patterson Park Community Center . The adjacent tennis courts could be covered and converted to an indoor complex, and the pool could remain an outdoor facility. Though a gymnasium could be added, space would still be available to host receptions and meetings, he said.
"You've got four walls and a roof. I think you could save a lot of money" by converting the Town Centre and not building a separate indoor facility, Tennant said .
The Town Centre was built in 1986 and approximately 77,000 people visit its fitness center and pool annually.
Debbie Hines, Smyrna Junior Basketball League president, said when the league begins play Dec. 2 it will use gyms at four county schools around town simultaneously.
"At the end of 10 years, a six-court indoor facility is reasonable," she said.
Resident Virginia Travis endorsed Tennant's preliminary plan.
"It sounds like it's open to creativity and can keep Smyrna known for athletics," she said.
A third community meeting is being planned. Those unable to attend Tuesday's meeting can still give input by downloading a survey from the town's Web site, www.townofsmyrna.org, or by contacting Smyrna Parks and Recreation at 459-9773.

Planning my vacation...

Ok everyone I am planning my vacation and it is going to take me a few years to save for this vacation......You don't have to be an astronaut anymore to experience walking in space. All you need is $35 million and the willingness to risk your life...from cnn..........going to space will cost you if you have the money.......it would take me 3 to 4 lifetimes to save that much money to go to space...I guess I am out of luck now ....I guss I will stick with my cabin I rent....lol

SMUGNESS

How dare you,
sit there,
atop your
safe little
world,

And say what you
would do.

You've never even
been on my side
of the street,
much less in my
ill-fitting shoes.

Baby,
you've just been lucky!

LIFE

One day,

buoyant,
bubbling,
floating.

The next--

Leaden,
hopeless,
drowning.

WISTFUL

I remember you.

You stood there,
offering everything.

Peace,
Honor,
Love.

But,
I was wild that year,
and young,
and blind,
without wisdom.

So,

I went on,
Alone.

Life back then!

Looking at all the old music videos are bringing back some really good memories to me and makes one think about what life was back in the 1980's. We had just watch the debut of MTV, friday night videos, the superstaion wtbs, BIG HAIR...lol......who would have thought we would all be on the internet like we are today! Things have really changed since then....old friends have come and gone, we get older looking, 9/11, prices going up, lose of loved ones(many), and just things in general. If there is something you miss about the days back then post them for us to see and talk about.......I sometimes wish I could go back in time which I know is not possible but it would be cool to try...........

What is their purpose?

Ok, I was outside smoking last night at work and saw this creature about 50 feet away from me eating in the field. I sat there and watched him. I thought to myself here is here but for what purpose? Some animals are place on the planet for a purpose of for a food source but a skunk?? All I know them for is their smell which he didn't seem to have that last night. Another creature I wonder about is the firefly. Yes they are a site to see in the summer months with their light shining but what is their purpose? Is there any creature that you wonder about? Drop me a message and let me know.

Xanadu

Well they have found a place that might have life on it and could be a place for us to travel too later on in life.......here is the article from a website I found...

A network of river channels is located atop Xanadu, the continent-sized region on Saturn's moon Titan. This radar image was captured by the Cassini Radar Mapper on April 30, 2006.

These winding, meandering river channels start from the top of the image and run like a fork in the road, splitting to the right and left of the image. At Titan's chilly conditions, streams of methane and/or ethane might flow across parts of the region.

The picture is roughly 230 kilometers (143 miles) wide by 340 kilometers (211 miles) long, and shows features as small as 500 meters (1,640 feet).

The Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperative project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, manages the mission for NASA's Science Mission Directorate, Washington, D.C. The Cassini orbiter was designed, developed and assembled at JPL. The radar instrument was built by JPL and the Italian Space Agency, working with team members from the United States and several European countries

Honesty best policy

BERLIN, Germany (Reuters) -- Overcome with remorse at having stolen a bicycle, a thief in Germany wrote the victim a letter and fully recompensed him for the loss, police said Monday.

After the theft in the Bavarian village of Bidingen was reported, police in nearby Marktoberdorf made an appeal in a local paper for any witnesses to the crime to come forward.

Soon afterwards, the victim received an anonymous letter from the thief containing 400 euros ($501.50) in cash -- the exact value of the bicycle, according to the police notice.

"The thief also told the man he was sorry he couldn't remember where he'd left the bike," said police spokesman Gerhard Kreis.

"He may just have been a thoroughly honest person who saw the error of his ways. You still get them you know."

THE HEAT!!

We are in a heat wave this week and yesterday it was 100 degrees. I work nights and when I left work at 4:30am it was near 80 degrees. today will be about as hot with some relieve coming this weekend I hopeI like the weather to be 75 all year round. Some snow is cool but only when it snows about 6 inches to a foot.

Serious post: anger management

Ok you all..I want to talk to you today about something that bothers me...my brother seems to have a really bad anger management problem (which he says he don't). I have figured this much out. When he is with his girlfriend he seems to be mad at the world, and when they are broke up he is so happy go lucky it isn't funny. I wouldn't care this much but he gets mad and takes his anger out on his 10 yr old son. Which I feel is wrong dead wrong!!! He doesn't hit his kid but yells which I feel could make his son not like him later on down the road....You ask why so concerned?? Well they live here with me and if I try to but in then my brother gets all mad at me and comes after me (very trailer trash redneck if I ssay so myself) I have lived in fear from my own father growing up and now that I am close to 40 I shouldn't live this and I am not going to...I have decided today that I am going to find my own place to move to and soon....Working nights then coming home and trying to sleep only to be woken up by this mean ass brother of mine isn't working....Today he came home from work not an hour after he left for work and his son was up at a friends house because I let him go while I was sleeping...The rule was not to go anywhere until I am up but sometimes I don't get up until late and the boy cant go play then...No win situation here!!! Another thing too when he gets mad he grounds his for every little thing and its kind of a joke in the neighborhood that his son is grounded again....Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do??? He wont go get help too proud too...Let me know if you have anything that might help thanks

A mall shooting

Ok now, this weekend there was a shooting at one of the nicer local malls here. I would have never thought it would have happened there but more than likely at Hickory Hollow mall since I have heard bad things about that mall. I am not one to do the mall thing, give me a wal mart and I am happy!
They found out it was gang related and 2 gang members were shot from one bullet. Are they gang members not thinking or do they just not car about other people and their lives? Dont go into a mall on a saturaday night and start shooting...how lame can you be? Your own mother could be in there shopping you fool!!
I thought about this all weekend and think there should be tougher laws for gang members. I feel if they want to fight and carry guns then there should be a law just for them. If you are a known gang member and are caught then I feel you should then not go to jail but head on over to the army base and enlist your happy shooting ass....take you ass over to the war and help us instead of killing your own kind!!! If you dont want to do that then your other option would be send you back to your motherland, if you black then Africa, mexican then Mexico and ect.
I saw an interview on the news last night from an ex gang member and he was saying the gangs in L.A. arent even fighting anymore so why are the dumbass gangs here trying to kill each other..Is it note safe now to even go to a store or a movie? There needs to be something for the youth to do intead of hanging out and killing each other!!!

my job

Well I had a question asked of me the other day and the answer might surprise some of you. "Why are you working at that job at your age?"

Well I have worked about 6 yrs in retail and about 18 yrs in fast food and full service resturants(management). I am sick and tired of that kind of work having to punch a time clock and manage others. The public has made me in general a person that wont ever go back into fast food. If you have ever worked in fast food you know why. Where I am working now , I dont have to clock in at a certain time, I can take how many ever breaks I needs, work alone, listen to music, and the most important thing.....NO STRESS!!! I clean the smyrna skate center for those of you dont know already plus I also clean homes on the side. My 2 yrs at the center is coming up and my boss is one of the best around. He tells me I do a great job and the raises prove it. The only thing he has told me in the past that I have missed a piece of gum in the carpet which is now very rare for me...if I need extra hours he will give them to me...fast food I had to work 45 to 50 hours a weeks and here I work 30 to maybe 40. I am happy with my job. I might not be doing this 10 yrs from now but right now I am happy. I hope everyone finds a job they love and treats them good at.

what the hell???

Ok I am talking today about something that is really bothering me and this shouldnt be allowed to happen.....

When you go to a store or a big parking lot, sit and watch the cars pull into the first few handicap parking spots and watch to see who gets out. Yes for the most part the people that park in those places are not even near close to be being handicaped. How did they get a car hanger to place in their window? Why are they parking in those spaces? these spaces are for those that are handicaped!! These people walk and act like there is nothing wrong with them. This really makes me mad as hell.

OK another thing also while I am on my high horse today....

those people that are overweight and like to ride in the scotters at the stores ...are you that damn lazy that you cant walk alittle to try and loose some of that FAT!!! Stop going to the all you can eat food bars and the fast food places..gesh....AMercia has gotten fat and lazy....
I say leave the things for those that need them like the scotters and the handicaped parking places...if you know of anything else that lazy people abuse let me know for I am going to start telling people to stop abusing these items!! I have had enough!!!

the sun

Here comes the sun
here comes the sun
and I say it's all right

little darling,
it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling,
it feels like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun,
here comes the sun
and I say it's all right

Little darling,
the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling,
it seems like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun
here comes the sun
and I say it's all right

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...

Little darling,
I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling,
it seems like years since it's been clear

Here comes the sun
here comes the sun
and I say it's all right It's all right

a song for today!

Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion

I want to walk in the open wind
I want to talk like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you

So baby talk to me
Like lovers do
Walk with me
Like lovers do
Talk to me
Like lovers do

Here comes the rain again
Raining in my head like a tragedy
Tearing me apart like a new emotion
Oooooh

I want to breathe in the open wind
I want to kiss like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you

So baby talk to me
Like lovers do
Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion(here it comes again, here it comes again)

I want to walk in the open wind
I want to talk like lovers do
I want dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you

North Korea tests missiles

well its happening now this country is testing its smaller missles and hopefully they wont launch the big nuke missle that can reach california.....CNN is reporting this now....god bless us all and pray

another 80's flashback!!

It's not the way you look
It's not the way that you smile.
Although there's something to them
It's not the way you have your hair
It's not that certain style
It could be that with you.
If I had a photograph of you,
It's something to remind me.
I wouldn't spend my life just wishing.
It's not the make-up
And it's not the way that you dance
It's not the evening sky.
It's more the way your eyesare l
aughing as they glanceAcross the great divide.
If I had a photograph of you,
It's something to remind me
I wouldn't spend my life just wishing.
It's not the things you say
It's not the things you do
It must be something more
And if I feel this way for so long
Tell me is it all for nothing
Just don't walk out the door.
If I had a photograph of you,
It's something to remind me.
I wouldn't spend my life just wishing.

could this happen?

I was reading an article on cnn.com about....N. Korea threatens U.S. with 'nuclear war'.....this really scares me that another war could start and this one could be the big one....they can launch a missle at anytime and we the people would not really know until the media says something....I know that their missles wont be able to hit here in Tn but the affects of a missle would hurt the enviroment and cause weather problems, health problems, and even hungar......we need to really pray now that this wont happen.......

Happy fourth!!

Well I wanted to let everyone know that I wish them a happy 4th of July and make sure you are safe this holiday. Remember not to drink and drive. Also drink plenty of water for its going to be a very hot few days. Remember our troups over seas that are fighting a war that most of are agaisnt but they are fighting so lets remember them and keep them in our prayers as we enjoy the holiday here. I would like to ask everyone to take 10 minutes out of our busy day tomorrow and discuss with your family the meaning of freedom and that some of the other countries dont have this to share with their families. Our family values are getting away from us and I remember when I was a tot that we all got together and celebrated which ever holiday it was and now times have changed and people are just too busy to stop and enjoy the day!!

Life is grand!!

Well today is my 20th day in a row working and I feel pretty good yet tired. I wouldnt have worked this much a few yrs ago but since I am older and growing up finally I feel a sense of self accomplishment. August 6th will be my two yrs on the job and I havent missed a day or taken a day off which for me is a record. My one friend told me that he remembers when I would quit a job 2 to 4 months into it. Well I think this job is the one for me. I hae been in managment jobs with fast food and retail and it just seems to stress me out and the public would get on my nerves and now I have NO STRESS!!! Even though my job is hard work I enjoy the fact that I can basically go in when I want(never being late) take breaks when I want, and have 3 days off when its slow which is so cool. My boss has been really good to me. I have had 2 great raises so far due for another one. When I need hours he gives them to me and He never yells at me or gets on to me. He has told me from time to time he dosnt want to lose me which in the past the other bosses have never said. I feel like I an assest to this company now...YES it does make one feel good inside about themselfs.....
